Weekly Updates

Good evening, Panther families.

This is Dr. Curry with your weekly updates. I’ll keep this brief so your family can enjoy the Super Bowl.

This will be a fast‑moving week, and we have a lot to accomplish. Please make sure your scholars are in school, on time, every day. If you have not returned the take‑home packet from the weather days, be sure it is completed and sent back tomorrow. Attendance credit for those days will be based on completion of the assigned work.

Tutoring will resume this week. Parents, please ensure all scholars have transportation and are picked up at the back of the building on Henry Street by 3:40 each day of tutoring.

Second‑grade families: Mrs. Foster sent home a letter regarding upcoming testing. Please check that you have received it.

Each week, Ms. Burns will send home attendance letters for students who have missed more than five, ten, or twenty days of school. These letters are automatically generated. Please remember that a parent note does not erase an absence; it simply provides information about whether the absence was excused or justified. Students who have missed more than ten days of school are considered chronically absent by the State of North Carolina. Research shows that chronically absent students often fall behind their peers academically. Let’s work together to keep our scholars in school unless they are truly ill. They deserve every opportunity to succeed.

Let’s make it a great week at Parkview Village Expressive Arts Elementary—where we celebrate every culture and encourage every scholar to step into the spotlight, on their own unique stage, and SHINE.
